New Security Features

The new iOS 16.3 update brings a number of new security features to iPhones. One of the most important is the addition of physical security keys as a two-factor authentication option for Apple ID accounts. New Features and Improvements

iOS 16.3 also includes a number of new features and improvements. The Lock Screen now has 12 fonts to choose from for the time, including one option that is thinner than prior fonts, and another that is a thicker version of the previously available serif font. The calendar Lock Screen widget no longer provides details on the next upcoming event while the iPhone is locked, blurring out the information until the device is unlocked. The Reminders app has a new “Include Due Today” option in the Settings section, which is designed to include both overdue and due today items in the badge count.

There’s also a new splash screen for the Stage Manager feature on the iPad, plus new tutorials for walking users through how to use the feature. When choosing an iCloud+ subscription option, there’s a new splash screen that explains the features. Furthermore, some users are seeing a Clownfish wallpaper option, which was on the original iPhone when it was introduced by Steve Jobs in 2007 but has never officially launched.

Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

The iOS 16.3 update also includes bug fixes and performance improvements. The iOS version interface has been updated in the Settings app under About > iOS Version. It’s simpler and is no longer a pop-up card, plus it no longer links to Apple’s security website. Furthermore, widgets no longer block the view of the Earth Lock Screen wallpaper. The earth image moves down when widgets are used, and up if there are no widgets placed.
